1. Copyright Ownership and Protected Works
1.1 Who Owns the Copyright
All original content created by We Get To Serve Books (“WGTS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is the exclusive intellectual property of We Get To Serve Books and its founder, Dr. Colleen Damon-Duval, protected under the United States Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 101 et seq.) and equivalent international copyright laws.

- Lesson plans and educational resource documents
- Digital artwork, graphic elements, and page layouts
c) Website Content
- All original text, articles, and blog posts published on wegettoservebooks.com
- All photographs, graphics, illustrations, and visual design elements created by or for WGTS
- The WGTS brand identity, including our name, logo, tagline, and trade dress
- Website design, layout, structure, and proprietary code
d) Illustrations and Artwork
Illustrations created by third-party illustrators — including Joshua A. Damon and other collaborators — are used under agreement with WGTS and remain protected under applicable copyright law. Any use of these illustrations without authorization from both WGTS and the respective illustrator is strictly prohibited.
e) Merchandise and Branded Items
- All designs, graphics, and text appearing on WGTS T-shirts and branded merchandise
- All promotional and marketing materials created by or for WGTS

2. Permitted Uses — What You May Do

- Print purchased digital downloads for distribution, sale, or sharing beyond personal single-user use;
- Incorporate any WGTS content into AI training datasets, machine learning models, or any automated content generation system without our explicit written permission.

4.4 DMCA Takedown Notice — Full Requirements in Detail
Your DMCA Takedown Notice must contain each of the following in full:
1. IDENTIFICATION OF THE COPYRIGHTED WORK: A clear description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If multiple works are at issue, provide a representative list.
2. IDENTIFICATION OF THE INFRINGING MATERIAL: Specific identification of the material you claim is infringing, including the exact URL(s) on our Website where the allegedly infringing material appears. General descriptions are insufficient.
3. YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION: Your full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.

4.5 Our Response to Valid Takedown Notices
Upon receipt of a complete and valid DMCA Takedown Notice, We Get To Serve Books will:
- Acknowledge receipt of your notice within 5 business days;
- Promptly review the notice and the allegedly infringing content;
- Remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material expeditiously if we determine the notice is valid;
- Notify the person who posted the content (if applicable) that the material has been removed and provide them with a copy of your notice;
- Inform the person of their right to submit a Counter-Notification under the DMCA.
5. DMCA Counter-Notification
5.1 Your Right to Counter-Notify
If you believe that content you posted on our Website was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification, you have the right to submit a DMCA Counter-Notification under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). A Counter-Notification is a legal document. We strongly recommend consulting with an attorney before submitting one.
5.2 Required Elements of a Valid Counter-Notification
- Your full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address;
- Identification of the material that was removed or disabled, and the URL where it appeared before removal;

- A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or any judicial district in which WGTS may be found, if you are outside the United States);

5.3 What Happens After a Counter-Notification
If we receive a valid Counter-Notification, we will:
- Forward a copy of the Counter-Notification to the original complainant;
- Inform the complainant that we may restore the removed content within 10–14 business days unless the complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action to restrain the alleged infringement;
- Restore the removed content within 10–14 business days of receiving the Counter-Notification, unless we receive notice that a court action has been filed.
6. Repeat Infringer Policy
In accordance with the DMCA and our commitment to protecting intellectual property, We Get To Serve Books maintains a strict repeat infringer policy. Parties found to have infringed copyrights on multiple occasions will have their access to our Website terminated and any accounts, orders, or relationships with WGTS permanently suspended.

- Online marketplaces where our content is being sold without authorization;
- Search engines (Google, Bing) to have infringing pages de-indexed.
7.3 Legal Action
If unauthorized use continues after a Cease and Desist notice, or if infringement is egregious (such as commercial sale of our copyrighted works), We Get To Serve Books reserves the right to pursue all available legal remedies, including:
- Filing a copyright infringement lawsuit in federal court under 17 U.S.C. § 501;
- Seeking statutory damages of up to $150,000 per work infringed (for willful infringement) under 17 U.S.C. § 504;
- Seeking recovery of actual damages, lost profits, and attorneys’ fees;
- Seeking injunctive relief to stop the infringing activity immediately.
| Copyright infringement is not a minor matter. Under U.S. law, statutory damages for willful copyright infringement can reach $150,000 per work infringed. We take the protection of our creative works seriously and will pursue all available legal remedies without hesitation. |
